My first Solo International trip

Everything seemed so EXITING…the International Airports, the different transits, numerous gates, different time zones, smell of coffee, souvenir shops, and my luggage :)

It was approximately 26+ hours with a stopover at Frankfurt. The beautiful terminals were so enticing, a dragon tail of gates, and continuous announcements which made sure I didn't miss my next flight to my destination - Saint Paul International Airport, Minneapolis.

We stayed in the suburbs of Minnesota, which had beautiful landscapes, lakes, and parks. The first Fall of the season and First snow of the year was magnificent - when one covered the land with beautiful hues and the other blanketed the entire place with snow that looked like whipped cream.

The small lake which was close to where we stayed was a gorgeous place with Minnesotan ducks paddling in the lake, geese walking around the path, people walking their pets, jogging, deer spotted at times, and kids playing in the park - perfect and beautiful day….. every day!

Minneapolis Institute of Art
With an art background and study about various art and artifacts, it was a visual treat to see a few of them which I had heard or read about.

MIA has an extravagant collection of paintings, artifacts, sculptures that are segregated according to their geographical and chronological order. Many contemporary artists have also exhibited their work, which adds to the beauty of the place.

Atlantic City, New Jersey

I had no clue about the grandeur of this place, until and unless I witnessed one the biggest Casino - Taj Mahal!

Atlantic City is known for its casinos and boardwalk, restaurants, shopping, and other tourist attractions. Some of these casinos are also known for hosting live entertainment and concerts.

Its a pity I was not allowed to capture the extravagance and beauty of the casino’s interiors, but I was glad to have won about 32$ by the end of my trip :)

Stillwater, Minnesota
Few places are so fond and memorable that one cannot forget the beauty of the place because of the calmness and picturesque landscapes that can be imagined as a Jig jaw puzzle.

The place had beautiful backwater and boats and yachts docked for personal and commercial use.

Navy Pier, Chicago
Navy Pier has a shoreline that has shops, restaurants, parks, gardens and caters entertainment to every age group. Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, it is one of the busiest tourist spots in Chicago. The day looked beautiful with clear skies and reflection of the ferry wheel in the water. Almost out from a modern-day fairyland!

Field Museum, Chicago
I can never forget the look on my face, when I first entered Field Museum as it had a display of the largest T. rex specimen discovered, Sue. It is one of the largest museums in the world with extensive science related-specimen and artifact collections. The museum has a rich collection of fossils, gems, photo archives, books, etc which are geographically displayed floor wise.

It has permanent displays from many parts of the world, one of them which attracted me the most was Inside Ancient Egypt. Witnessing a glimpse of ancient Egypt’s marketplace showcasing their everyday lifestyles, jewelry, clothing, mummies, queens and pharos, and the sphinx and their architecture….Looks like my bucket list has definitely grown longer :)
The more I write about the Field Museum, the more I relate to the movie ‘ A Night at the Museum’…just wondering what if they all come to life!

John Hancock Building

Known as the windy city, I took my breath away. The city with tall buildings, experience to view Chicago skyline by night from John Hancock Building, and Lake Michigan was breathtaking. The whole experience of standing up above a 100 story super tall skyscraper is unimaginable.
