Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries, Bylakuppe

Bylakuppe in Mysore district in Karnataka has a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. It is said to be the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. The peace and serenity of the place can be felt as soon as one enters the Monastery with monks chanting their prayers and the bells.
The Monastery houses three captivating golden statues - Buddha, Padmasambhava, and Amitayus. Each statue is about the height of 40 feet. The monastery is popularly known as the Golden temple and its walls have been decorated with intricate paintings. These colorful paintings illustrate stories of God and demons from Tibetan Buddhist mythology.
