Lakshmi

  Gilded God - Lakshmi/Hiranyavarnam Harinim

I considered myself lucky in working on my second Mysore Traditional Painting - Goddess of Wealth, Mahalakshmi. Adorning her with Gold and Pearls, Emeralds and Rubies was delightful. Although, i have tried to bring in the look and feel of these precious ornaments through my watercolours and gold foil, the richness of working with these shades was no less than that of using or choosing the actual gems!

Well, as they say.. you need to improve on your next move, so did I! Working on Lakshmi was challenging as I had to bring out the richness and the vibes of grandeur with colours and hues. This time, the gold was not just embossed, but it was also engraved and flattened using the flat method. Adding drapes and pleats on saree with engravings and flat gold to show the flow on the Devi's attire was challenging.

I didn't want to miss capturing my thoughts on designing the ornaments and designs, my doodles and scribbles looked rather beautiful than my usual sketches. If this hue of viridian would look rich, or that shade of crimson would look gracious... contemplating on shades was very challenging!

Looking forward to starting my third Traditional Painting. I stroke off with riches, happiness, grace, charm, and splendor :)
