Sringeri Sharada Peetham was established by Adi Shankaracharya. Sringeri is known for Sri Sharadamba temple, dedicated to goddess Saraswati. The temple is famous for its rich culture and heritage. It is believed that, before the child starts its formal schooling, ‘Aksharaabhyasa’ when done with the blessings of Sharadha Devi is auspicious. The parents of kids are made to write on a plate of rice and pray to Goddess Saraswati and the Guru to impart good knowledge and education to their children.
